We begin our Mystery Genre unit becoming student detectives, preparing our case files, learning about the important mystery story elements and vocabulary. I started out by asking them to write on post it what they thought a mystery was. Their responses were shared and posted on the GO chart. We will be adding to our class bulletin board GO chart ( Graphic Organizer) for future reference when they write their own mystery story. | Day 1 -consisted of learning the vocabulary terms for a mystery and completing their vocabulary book. Day 2 - earning their detective hats! This was by completing their case file folders, making their badges, and completing a finger print investigations where they learned that everyone has different fingerprints and how important prints are as evidence. The ability to carefully observe is an important skill for the serious detective. |
