What are Math Foldables? 1st there are many kinds . Basically, they are used as ways to organize mathematical information in a visual, interactive way. I have the children put them in their math notebooks as a resource they can easily go get if needed.
Math Foldables often integrate language arts , reading, science and math. They can have flaps, slides, or pockets. Some spin and involve origami like folding. The children enjoy these visual resources and learn a variety of ways to read , organize and present information in more visual ways.

CUBES is a simple strategy that allows students a strategy to use while reading a math word problem. Each child made a foldable and practiced practiced going through the CUBES steps on some work problems as a whole group.
This will be the ongoing strategy all year with visuals posted for them to use.
This strategy will be required for their homework as well and a small visual has been included in their homework folders .
