Division with remainders was becoming a sticking point with the class I noticed. So one day, I posed the question can you make 4 equal groups with 17 blocks? The children worked with blocks and a partner but their confusion on how to explain or show their thinking was apparent even with those who could perform the algorithm and draw the correct picture for division with reminders. So, for the past few days I am starting math class with a tricky division or multiplication question. They are improving! We will begin playing the left overs game again as a review.
