We started the year out with an Unthinkable named Body Snatcher ( here ) . Body Snatcher's power is to get us to move our body out of the group. Body Snatcher also takes us by surprise when we are anxious or angry, worried or sad. One way to defeat Body Snatcher is body awareness. The children were taught Belly Breathing with a 'stuffy' and guided through a simple Body Scan. These two tools help build self & body awareness and calms our systems down when anxious worried, excited etc. It helps us learn how to aim our attention to our body sensations. Belly breathing and body scan are also good tools or strategies to defeat other Unthinkables. So, this is a great first strategy to start our year ! If practiced before bed helps us sleep by relaxing the mind and body. Several children expressed feeling 'relaxed' or peaceful once the two exercises were done.
