During the week as we used our engine meter to help notice how our bodies felt, the children confused feelings vs sensations which is typical. For this lesson, we focussed on the difference between the two meanings of the word 'feelings'. Emotions and sensations and where we felt these sensations in our bodies. Also noting sometimes sensations were linked to emotions and sometimes they were not. I read a book titled Quick As A Cricket and we brainstormed difference feelings and sensations the boy may have while pretending to be different animals. I had the kids act out a few. Where did we feel strong and what did that feel like? Where did we feel scared and feel that in our body etc. We talked about Scaredy Squirrel and how being scared might feel in his body. We noticed temperature, weight, heart rate, tingling, muscle tension etc. Then we got moving with GO NOODLE! The goal was to move us into the high range pause and notice, the low range and pause notice and the just right range etc. We ended the hour lesson making personal meters. | |
