It is my common practice to use weekly songs or poems to teach vocabulary, concepts, math algorithms , and had a bit of fun to our day. This means we practice the song for 5 days. For the weather unit we used three:
The Weather Song , Look up at the Clouds and the Water Cycle Boogie ( also a clever You Tube song with motions) . Each song has several lessons that accompany them. It is a fun way to assist memory for complex vocabulary and deepen concepts.
For example when we were rounding you could hear the children whisper sing the rounding song ;-)
Music or poetry are helpful strategies to retain information and later retrieve it with a little tune. We often use these songs as additional resources for foldables and put them in our science notebooks.
