The children have been reading, writing and making Flat Stanleys. We have completed many literature activities from sorting the pros and cons of being flat, answering questions to completing our take home journal project. The children are bringing their Flats home during winter break to write about their adventures together. These will be shared when we return and they are excited! The children are also writing their own adventure story using the flat character in class. The Christmas Adventure book was also a simple book to help the children understand not everyone uses the name Santa. It also deepens understanding about what generosity really is about. In this book Santa has decided the world was lacking in generosity, gratitude and kindness he wasn't going to deliver gifts to anyone! But he hadn't read Stanley's or Arthur's letters yet. Stanley and Arthur had decided they wanted to help other children who experienced an earthquake by writing letters to Santa asking that their gifts be given to those children. Arthur even put up his pillow case as a stocking! So, Stanley's and Arthur's letters were important! They had to change Santa's mind. | |
