I end the year with poetry. The children are learning that all the songs we have been learning and singing is poetry set to music. Now as we listen, read and recite new poems we find or own voices and creativity.
I start by teaching the simple patterns of a diamond poem ( kites) where we start with two nouns one changing not the other and simple similes.
