The children were asked to secretly select a rock and complete a graphic organizer about the rock they selected. Once they completed their GO chart, they wrote a paragraph describing their rock. The children then sat in a circle and the rocks were all placed in the middle. As each child read their paragraph carefully, the rest of the class tried to select the correct rock. If the rock was selected correctly the listener and reading received a prize. The more detailed and descriptive the paragraph the easier it was for the listeners to pick out the correct rock. They enjoyed this assignment and many were able to pick out the writer's rock. |
