School House Rock songs are the kids favorite. This week we were working on adjectives and verbs. The children quickly learned the simple motions for the definition- "An adjective describes a person, place, thing or idea." We sorted some adjectives into five categories and tested them in a sentence using a G.O. chart. Adjectives make sentences interesting for the reader. The weekly song, Unpack your Adjectives was a fun video and song to sing and read. With the written lyrics, we found all the adjectives by underlining them in red . Our super sentences are color coded according to parts of speech. Learning that by adding a -y, -ish, or -ary was fun as we took nouns and checked it out. A bag was given to each child filled with a secret item. The teacher modeled hers ( fruit stars) first. The object was to list as many adjectives as possible to describe their object, read that list to the class and if someone was able to guess they earned a prize. |
