We ended the year with fact families, number bonds, ten frames, place value and basic multiplication operations for a given number. The child's individual work was carefully placed on an ornament and put on our large tree. Next, the children were given their own tree , a set of dice and completed their personal trees at their math skill level. I loved the ways we incorporated the gifts ten frames, place value and expanded notation wrapping. This was a nice way to review, practice and hum ... yes the children hummed, tapped & sang the multiplication songs! They are very catchy and the kids sing them during math often lately. Cute. We have learned them all from 1-6 , & 10s. We will return to the 7s, 8s, 9s and 12s! The new year brings in the remaining tables, division and fractions. Of course you know fractions, division and subtractions are best friends... right? |
