This week we began in earnest our blogging & learning on how to respond to topics and each other in a digital format. The intro to blogging started with T.H.I.N.K. - an acronym for T- Is it True? H- Is it Helpful? I- Is it Inspiring? N- Is it Neccessary? K- Is it Kind? We talked about how our words ( spoken or written ) have an impact on others and ourselves. As we discussed THINK during our Language Arts blogging period , I felt we should expand on our previous Think or Say it lesson ( here) from Pirate Club and frame it in Mindful Communication lesson as well. | First, we talked about whether we had ever said anything we wish we could take back and how that made us and others feel. We also shared a time someone used words that hurt us. Many feelings were shared like being embarrassed, nervous, mad etc. We then listed the positive consequences of pausing to use the THINK strategy. These included- More friends, feels better, people will listen to us more, we can build 'people files' and won't get into trouble as much. I then passed out situation cards that we sorted and discussed. Once done, they completed a THINK page in their Mindful digital book. |
