We next worked on ways to recognize and defeat Space Invader and Body Snatcher . Each of these unthinkables move our bodies either too close ( invading someones personal space bubble) or snatches our bodies and move it out of the group.
We began by playing a simple game of musical chairs to see if they could guess our next unthinkable duo. They guessed correctly and enjoyed the game. They were able to share moments of both.
This was followed by reading the clever and funny book titled Personal Space Camp, watching a teach made power point to identify space invader picture scenes, sort pictures and complete a ven diagram.
During our game section we played several games that required they attend to both unthinkables while having fun taking turns, cooperating and having fun!
Welcome to my Classroom!
I am passionate, a little bit quirky ( some may say a little bit more) and dedicated to serving children with Autism. These young people have touched me deeply and have made me a better teacher & hopefully person. I want to share what I have learned that allows these beautiful children to grow & sometimes thrive in my class.
I begin my 26th year of teaching this year! I teach in the Bay Area and live in the beautiful redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. My sanctuary, place of reflection and daily sitting practice.
My hope is that this website/blog will help others understand and see children with Autism as talented unique thinkers who can and will contribute to our world and anyone who knows them in positive ways.
