After our whole group lessons on Brain Eater, we select games that are challenging and require keeping your brain in the group and paying close attention to play. This first two weeks we are playing Space Face where the children must save some aliens. No two aliens on the board are exactly alike, so players must pay close attention to detail during the mission. As aliens are being identified by the color of their eyes, nose, mouth, and face, players are sharpening their visual discrimination and concentration skills. The first player to rescue five aliens is the winner! They get to fly their alien space craft around the room! | The second fast moving game is called Slamwich. This is a favorite. But it is not easy. The children must keep their brain in the gourd and pay attention! The players flip and stack a loaf of cards to build slamwiches and double-deckers. Tomato, onion, tomato... slap! Get there first and win the pile. But children also have to catch the thief by yelling out "STOP THIEF" to stop him from stealing the Slamwiches. The player who collects all of the cards wins. Needed - A sharp eye, attention to detail and fast hand will help! While kids are flipping and stacking cards, they're actually having to pay close attention, remember 3-4 cards in a series, and anticipate what might happen. |
