| The children sorted a set of problems in their small groups and then posted them to the large GO chart to be displayed in the room as a reminder and further discussion. They were asked to share their thinking and reasoning about why they chose the problem size. Voting occurred if they could not agree as a group. We can easily go to extreme reactions ( a small mosquito bite could give you malaria for example ;-). This led to an excellent discussion about GLASSMAN. Glassman is an unthinkable who makes us have BIG reactions to small problems. More on this pesky unthinkable later! |
Problems come in various sizes . How we respond to them depends on the type of problem. We can solve a small problem by ourselves or with a friend quickly. We need an adult to help us solve a medium size problem & it could take a day or two. A BIG problem requires many people and takes many days or weeks to solve.
