Day 2 was an emotional day. Excitement and anticipation was evident as I walked the boys back to class first thing in the morning. Curiosity, surprise and laughter was evident as they entered the room and the OT snapped pictures. After reading the notes and settling down Ms. Christa had us do a bit of yoga to prepare us for the next phase. Explaining how our traps worked and taking them apart. Finally, we met at the rug to talk about taking apart our traps and how we felt. Many were sad. So, we talked about how much care and effort we put into building them and how we can mindfully and slowly take it apart 1 piece at a time. I talked about how life was full of changes and it was important to learn to let things go. To remember how much fun we had, the memories we made and what we learned. The children quietly took apart their traps. It was sweet to watch and support. | Explaining how the trap was supposed to work. Many already have ideas for making a stronger and better trap next year! |

It was Valentine's day almost, we had earned another AR party, this is a classroom of boys.... So, head on over to Fun and Techy to see some heart engineering and fun. Click -------- > HERE.
Can the children find the buttons they carefully observed the day before from a wider range of buttons put before them? Did they take careful notes? What else would have been helpful? This lesson was about how much information we need to note, draw and include in our observations to use or share with other scientists. The children learned they needed to draw both sides of their buttons, measure them as many looked the same but were different sizes, look more carefully at the details like the ridges, bumps etc & label their pictures with what they notice. |
